    Jesus Cares Because God Cares

    Friday, February 15, 2008

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:16-17 NKJ)

Jesus cares. At the cross, the love of Jesus was fully manifested. He died for all, so that we do not need to enter death. In 2 Corinthians 5:15 Paul tells us, "He died for all." The Bible says, "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone" (Hebrews 2:9 NKJ). We all will die a physical death, unless Jesus returns shortly. But Jesus experienced a death for us that we will not have to taste. He tasted the spiritual death of eternal separation from God, which is in hell. He did that, as the scapegoat of God, taking our sins there so that we do not have to enter that God-forsaken place. This happened while on the cross, from where He cried out, bMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46 NKJ) He did this because God, His Father, sent Him to do it. He did this because "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son," as cited in the verse of the day. Jesus cares because God cares.

Jesus showed compassion to the people. He healed them. He taught them. He fed them. He sent His disciples to shepherd them. He told the people that His Father had sent Him to do these things. He told His disciples to do these things also.

He was weak like we are, subject to the passions of the sinful flesh. He was begotten of God, made weak in the flesh, trusting in the Holy Spiritís power to enable Him to live in the bosom of His Father and to have power from God over all diseases. He received more power in Gethsemane to carry our sin and to die for us. He lived this way so that He can now impart His life--the very nature of God--into us so we too can live in victory. We can receive the life of God into us, and let that life bring our old ways to death. We can be crucified with Him, entering His plan and provision for us. We too can be empowered by the Holy Spirit, enabled to show Godbs life and love to others. We can do this through the power of God made available to us through Christ and through the Holy Spirit. This is Godís will and provision for us. Jesus cares because God cares. We can care for the world by receiving the care of Jesus into us and letting His life and care for the world flow through us to others. We can care because Jesus cares because God cares. Let us receive and release Godís love into all of our being as Jesus did, so the world can see us grounded in love as Jesus was. This is Godís eternal desire for us, and He will do it through Christ living in us. Hallelujah!

Father, we rejoice in Your love for the world. We rejoice in Your love for Your Son and His love for You. We rejoice that You have loved us so that we can receive the love of Christ and love You and the world. Help us to know, receive and release all the love You have for us. Amen.
