The Kingdom of Heaven Is at Hand
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
"From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, ĎRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.í" (Matthew 4:17 NKJ)
Jesus came with a purpose in mind; God sent Him from heaven to fulfill a mission. He knew His Father lived in the heaven above the heavens, where He was worshipped. Jesus loved His Father. He loved His Fatherís will and came to do it. He taught His disciples to pray to His Father and theirs. He told them, "In this manner, therefore, pray: our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:9-10 NKJ). Jesus wants us to know and love the kingdom of heaven so that we, like Him, want to see it manifest on the earth.
Jesus knew His Father wanted us to be united with Him in His plan and purposes. When He created Adam, God blessed him and told him to be fruitful and to multiply, to fill the earth and to rule over it. God wants to bless us by imparting His nature and character into us so that we can rule in His universe, bringing about His desires and ways into all of His creation. God blesses us by enabling us to receive His life and then to want to see His will done and His ways accomplished.
God has a heavenly kingdom. Jesus came to show us the ways of His Fatherís kingdom. When He began His ministry Jesus proclaimed these things. The verse above was spoken by Jesus at the beginning of His ministry. Jesus knew that the kingdom of God is manifested through the Spirit of God. After preaching the good news of the presence of the kingdom of God in Him, He would then heal the sick, showing the people the power and love of Godís kingdom. The Bible says, "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people" (Matthew 4:23 NKJ). Jesus could heal the people because He came to bring them into the reality of living in the kingdom of God and of bringing Godís life into them. He came to remove the sinful ways and rebellious nature from men, by taking it upon Himself and bringing it into hell. In Godís kingdom in heaven there is no sin, nor is there any sickness or infirmity. Jesus came to bring the ways of the kingdom of heaven into the earth and into the hearts of the people who would come to Him.
Having died for our sins, and being raised from hell and death, Jesus now rules in the heavenly realm and over all the earth. He rules over all spiritual powers and is able to impart His life into us and to unite our hearts with His so that we too know and love the kingdom of God and the blessings of the heavenly life. He is able to heal the spiritual wounds we have received and to bring healing and health to our bodies. As we live in the flow of His Spirit and as His Spirit flows into us, we too will want to bring the message and manifestation of the kingdom of God to others. God is positioning His people so that He can have representatives of His kingdom in all facets of society. He is showing the world their desperate need of the righteous ways and holy character of God through us. He is enabling us to bring the power of the kingdom of heaven to others by filling us with His Spirit and then having us lay hands on the sick and see them healed by the presence of God. These ways are foreign to our natural man and our normal way of operating. That is why Jesus said, REPENT and believe the Gospel. It will be done because it is the will of God. Blessed be His name!
Father, we rejoice in the love and mercy You extend to us. We rejoice that Jesus came to manifest Your heavenly kingdom to us and now manifests Your heavenly ways in us. We worship You! Amen.

The Kingdom of Heaven is at Hand

"And He said to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.' Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them." (Mark 9:1-3 NKJ)
Jesus came preaching and demonstrating the good news about the kingdom of God. He showed the people God's desire to take out of them sin and sickness. He spoke of the day when He would send the Holy Spirit into them so that they too could be filled with Godbs presence and power. When Jesus healed the people He said that the kingdom of God was here. He told His disciples also to preach about the kingdom and to heal the sick. He told them that upon His ascension into heaven, He would send the Holy Spirit to empower them and that they would witness to others what God was doing by manifesting His presence and power through them.
Jesus explained to His disciples that the kingdom of God was within their being. He said, "For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21 NKJ). We have the ability to have the presence of another spiritual being in us. Many people at the time of Jesus had the presence of an evil spirit in them. The Bible says, "When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick" (Matthew 8:16 NKJ). People had evil spirits in them which were influencing their behaviors or causing them to be sick. The place reserved for the kingdom of God was occupied by another spirit being. Jesus cast these spirits out of them.
Jesus told His disciples that some of them would see the kingdom of God manifested in power. He then took three of His disciples onto a high mountain and was transfigured before them. Light began to shine from within Him and was manifested through all of His physical body. This light was so powerful that His very garment became dazzling white. This was the power of the Spirit of God in Him. This is what God can do to a human being who is filled with His life.
God wants to manifest His life through us. He tells us that we should be filled with His Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). He tells us to walk in the power and presence of His Holy Spirit so we will not fulfill the lusts and desires of our fleshly being (Galatians 5:16). God's presence in us can free us from our sinful ways, and we can receive the life of Christ into all of our being and allow His life to be manifested through us. Jesus wants to do that for us. He prayed that we would be filled with His glory in this life. This presence and glory will unite us with Christ and with His Father. This unity of being with God, and His glory manifested in us and through us, will be the witness to the world that Jesus has indeed come. He said, "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me" (John 17:22-23 NKJ). God will glorify His Son by letting His light and glory be manifested in us so we can be lights in this world. Jesus will be exalted by His living in us, and the world will know that He has come and done this in and for His people.
Father, we rejoice in Your Holy Presence and in Your love for us. Help us to know and receive all You want to do for us and in us so that the world will know the glory of Your being and love for us. Amen.
