A Thought for the WeekóChrist In Us

" ...the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:26-27 NKJ)
The wisdom of God far exceeds the mental capabilities of people to know and understand His ways. Godís ways are hidden in Himself and are revealed to us through the operation of His Spirit. God says, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:9 NKJ). Paul says, "the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJ).
There is a mystery that God has revealed to His saints, His holy and anointed ones. That mystery is that we can have Jesus Christ, the Son of God, living in us. Through His Spirit living in us, we can have Godís nature and character in us. God has taken us out of the nature of Adam that we were born into and brought us into the nature of Christ which He has placed in us. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says that by God we have been placed into Christ, who has come to live in us.
At the cross, Jesus took our old Adamic nature on Himself, becoming sin for us (2Corinthians 5:21). Our old nature was crucified with Him (Romans 6:6). He suffered for us. He let the demons of hell use men to bring about His crucifixion. Sin enables Satan to have access to us and to use others to harm us. Jesus gave in to the powers of Satanís kingdom when He went to the cross (Luke 22:53). Sin must be brought into death. Those who want to live in sin must be brought into death. God told this to Adam and Eve in the garden. Paul wrote to the Romans telling them that the result of sin is death--eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23). Jesus entered death for us with our sin, bringing our old nature into death.
Jesus, as our sin bearer, did not give in to the ways and desires of our sinful nature that were placed on Him. He prayed in Gethsemane for God to give Him the power to continue in Godís will and not give in to death on His way to the cross. God heard Him and gave Him the power to overcome our sinful ways and to complete all the sufferings necessary for our salvation.
Now Christ lives in us, able to overcome the sinful desires that are in us, through the same Spirit that empowered Him--the Holy Spirit of God. Christ in us has brought the Divine nature of God into us. God has placed us into this new nature; this can be worked into all of our being as we learn to grow and live in Christ. Praise be to God!
Father, we rejoice that Christ has lived and died for us, and now lives in us to enable us to live for You. Help us to realize, receive and release all the life and power You have provided for us in Christ. Amen.

"...the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:26-27 NKJ)
God is in the process of revealing a mystery to the nations. He is revealing this mystery to His people and then through His people. He is going to show forth His glory to the nations. God is doing a work in His people that only God can do--one that will reveal His love, power and nature to all the world. This work will be accomplished by having His people know and live in the reality of having Jesus living in them. Jesus Christ--the very Son of God who became man, died for us, and has been raised from the dead and glorified by God--can now live in us.
We were created to be a temple for God to live in. We were created to have the Spirit of God live in us and impart Godís wisdom and power into us and through us into the world. When man sinned he lost fellowship with God and a rebellious and sinful nature, like that of Satan, was formed in him. The Spirit of God had no place to live in and empower that nature. Men became empowered by and dependent upon the evil spirits of Satanís kingdom (Ephesians 2:1-3).
Jesus, the Son of God, became man, weak like us, but having the nature of God. He was dependent upon and empowered by the Spirit of God, like God had originally intended for us. He took our old nature on Himself and died for us; He died with our old nature on Him and overcame our sinful nature for us. Now God can bring the nature of Christ into us. He can take us out of our old nature and put us into the nature of Christ which He has placed in us. The Holy Spirit can then empower us to live in the new nature of Christ.
Living in the nature of Christ and being empowered by the Holy Spirit will enable us to live above the sinful ways of the old nature that remain in us. We are now dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6). Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can now bring the love and peace of Christ into all of our being, and show Christ to others as He comes forth from within us. God can empower us to do miraculous acts of love and compassion of God for God, as Christ did when He walked the earth. Let us receive, appropriate and release all that God has for us in Christ.
Father, we rejoice in Your great plan and purpose, and in the provision You have made for us in Christ. Help us to believe, receive and walk in the nature of Christ and in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
