Receiving the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Him
Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him," (Ephesians 1:15-17)
God wants to bless us. Last week we saw how He is blessing us by showing us our need to receive His life into our spirit, to submit to His plan, to thirst for more of Him, and to allow Him to purify us. He blesses us by doing and revealing these things for us.
God blesses us by showing us the blessings of His dwelling place and by bringing them to us. He has prepared every spiritual blessing for us in Himself, in His Spirit, in His heavenly place.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ," (Ephesians 1:3 NKJ)
In our natural state, we do not understand these things; God must reveal them to us. Therefore God reveals these things to His appointed leaders and has them pray for others to receive them. That is why Paul is praying for these things for Godís people, for those who love all the saints. He is praying for them to receive wisdom and revelation of the spiritual dimension and reality of life, so they might understand all God has prepared for them. WE NEED THE SPIRIT OF GOD TO AWAKEN OUR SPIRIT TO ALL GOD HAS MADE AVAILABLE FOR US IN CHRIST.
Pray for this for yourself, for your family, for all God brings to you. Pray that God will cause people to pray these things for you, and will bring you to places where these things are brought forth and imparted into your spirit, so you can impart them to others.
Father, we rejoice in what you have prepared for us and made available to us in Christ. Send Your Spirit to us so we can fully understand and receive all You have for us. We need Your Spirit to give us wisdom and revelation. Awaken our spirits so that we receive and communicate these truths into our whole being, and bring them forth into the world. Amen

KNOWING HIS CALLING AND THE RICHES OF HIS INHERITANCE
(I pray that) "the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints," (Ephesians 1:18)
God wants to bless us. He has a plan and purpose for His creation and for all of His people. He lives in heaven--a sin-free, pain-free environment where there is no evil. He wants to bring us into such an environment and to put such an environment into us, so that we can bring it into this earth.
God has a plan to bring this about through His Son. Evil must be removed from the earth and from the people who live here, for this to happen. The spirits of evil, under the rule of Satan, must be put down and removed from the earth for this to happen.
Jesus has overcome the evil one, having paid the price so that evil can be removed from the people of God. Jesus now reigns so that He can impart a holy life into Godís people, so we can overcome evil amidst its presence and the pain and suffering of this world. Jesus will then rule with us over the evil of this world and will, with us, remove the evil spirits of this world. Then He will, with us, remove all evil from the world.
Jesus is called to do this. Paul is praying that we will know the calling of Christ. His calling is for us to be united with Him in the plans and purposes of God. His reward for doing this is us. We are Godís property, given to Christ. God has purchased us by the blood of Jesus and has given us to Christ. We are Christís inheritance. Paul is praying for us to know these things, "Öthat you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints." Christ has performed for us. He is performing for us. He is also performing in us so that we can come into the fullness of all God has for us. Hallelujah!
Father, we thank You for all You have prepared for us in Christ. Thank You that You have performed for us in Christ and now Christ is performing for us, in us. Help us to know that He is called to impart Your life into all of our being, so that we can participate with You as You bring Your heavenly life and Your heavenly environment into all the earth. Help us to be a great reward for Your Son. Amen

KNOWING THE GREATNESS OF HIS POWER
(I pray that you might know) "the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places," (Ephesians 1:19-20)
God is powerful. He created all things by His power. He raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He raised Jesus from the earth into the heavens, bringing Him through all of the heavenly spiritual powers of Satan. God brought Jesus to His heavenly throne to reign over all evil princes, over all their territories, over all demonic powers, and over all their strongholds.
God promised to do this. He said through David, that Davidís Lord (Jesus) would sit at the right hand of God, and God would make all His enemies His footstool (Psalm 110:1): "The LORD [Yahweh] said to my Lord, ĎSit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.í" God promised that He would provide a new covenant through which He would put His ways into our hearts and put His Spirit into us so that we would keep His judgments and do them (Ezekiel 36:27). Jesus knew He was to be the Mediator of the New Covenant--that through Him the promises and realities of the New Covenant would come from God to us. When Jesus was in the womb of His mother, Zacharias prophesied that through Him we would be delivered from all our enemies and would be able to serve God without fear in righteousness and holiness in our earthly life (Luke 1:74-75). Before going to the cross, Jesus knew that through Him we would receive the glory of God after His resurrection (John 17:21, 22).
God used His power to raise and exalt Jesus for us. Satan could not stop the power of God which enabled Jesus to be all He needs to be for us. Now God is using His power to accomplish His purposes in us. Paul knew this, having experienced it for himself. He said, "I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power." (Ephesians 3:7 NKJ) Paul knew that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, now lived in Him and in Godís people so that we all could be all that God wants us to be. (Romans 8:11). Let us pray to know the greatness of His power.
Father, You are God. You are great and mighty in word and in deed. Help us to know the greatness of Your power which you unveiled when You raised Christ from the dead and raised Him to Your right hand. Help us to receive that power into our being so we can be all that You want us to be, so that Your will will be done and Your kingdom will come to this earth. Amen.

JESUS REIGNS NOW AND IN ALL COMING AGES
[God has raised Jesus and seated Him at His right hand] " far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feetÖ" (Ephesians 1:21-22)
Jesus Christ is Lord. God raised His Son from the dead and has made Him Lord and Christ. This is the message of Peter on the day of Pentecost, when God poured out His Spirit on His disciples (Acts 2:36). God has put all things under the feet of Jesus. His reign will be manifested in every area of our society and in all governments. All nations shall serve Him. All facets of our society will be governed by Him, according to His principles. The Bible says, "Öthere were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" (Revelation 11:15 NKJ)
The Bible says the reign of Jesus and the establishment of His principles will continually increase. Today, the reign of Jesus is growing in the hearts of His people. Evil spiritual powers are still reigning in the heavenly thrones and dominions; at the end of this age, they will be cast down and replaced. In the millennial age, Jesus and His people will reign. There will still be evil people on the earth. After the millennial age all evil will be removed from the earth. A new heaven will be coming down onto the earth, and heaven and earth will be united. This has been God's plan from eternity. The Bible says, "Öthat in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might [will] gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth-- in Him" (Ephesians 1:10 NKJ).
We can rejoice that in this age, Jesus reigns. We can rejoice that in the next age the reign of Jesus will be extended into all of the heavenly thrones and dominions. We can rejoice that in the ages to come all will serve Him and know Him as the King of Kings. Paul knew this and was praying that God's people would know these things also. The eternal plan of God--having all things under Christ and in Christ--is occurring now and will be totally fulfilled in the ages to come.
Father, we rejoice that You have put all things under Christ. We rejoice that You are working all things unto that end. You are Holy; You are all wise. Your ways are exceedingly above all that we could ever imagine or come up with in our finite minds. We worship You and pray that the kingdoms of Christ would continue to increase in us, over us, and through us. Praise and glory be to You, O God! In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

JESUS WILL REIGN THROUGH HIS CHURCH
[God raised Christ from the dead] and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:22-23 NKJ)
God has exalted Jesus and is bringing all things under Him. The Bible says that, centuries before Jesus came, God promised that He would do this (Psalm 110:1). God will reign over the earth through Jesus, who has come to live in His people. He will establish His ways in their inner being. He will reign in them. He will reign over all things through His church--the people who believe in Him. This is God's destiny for His people and for His creation.
The Apostle Paul, who wrote the words quoted above from Ephesians, knew these truths. He wanted all believers in Christ to be aware of these truths. He knew that, by themselves, people could not understand or grasp the significance of God's plan for them. That is why Paul was praying for the church of God in Ephesus, that they would grow in spiritual wisdom and insight. That is why he prayed that they would know the hope of the calling of Christ, who was raised from the dead and reigns so that we can receive His life. That is why we are meditating on these thoughts in this week.
We, the body of Christ--the church of Christ--must grow in revelation from the Spirit of God, so we can fully grasp the plans and purposes God has for us and for all of His creation. WE MUST PRAY that God will reveal these things to us. We can meditate on these things and thank God for all He has done and for what He will do to bring us into all He has planned for us in this life and in the ages to come.
Father, help us to pray even more for revelation from Your Spirit. Help us to grasp all that You have for us in Christ. Let us experience the reality of Jesus living in us. We want to serve Him in His kingdom so that we can rule with Him according to Your eternal and Divine plan for us and for Your creation. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
