A Thought from CMI--Shaking the Mind to Release the Spirit

June 9, 2008

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” (Hebrews 12:28 NKJ)

God loves His people.  He loves His created world.  Love binds together the three Persons of the Godhead.  The Father loves the Son and has created all things for Him.  The Son loves the Father and knows that He is to be the One through whom God would reveal Himself to people. The Holy Spirit loves the Father and wants to reveal His Word and His Son to us.  The Persons of the Godhead are fully united in nature and character and will, yet the role of each is unique.  They are diverse but united; they are one.

Jesus wants us to be one with Him.  He prayed that we would be one with Him in the same way He and His Father are one.  Jesus was united with the will and purposes of His Father.  He knows the blessedness of living in such a way and wants that for us.  The Holy Spirit desires for us to be united in our spirit with Him.  The Bible says that He who comes to God will become one in spirit with Him.

In our western culture we are taught to live by what we reason, based on what we have learned.  Yet, the Bible says we should not walk as the heathen do, in the vanity of their minds.  We are admonished to walk by listening to the inner voice of our spirit.  God reveals Himself to us through our spirit.  God dwells within the Christian through His Spirit in our spirit.  God desires to make us a spiritual house, aware of our spiritual nature in addition to that of our flesh.

We can live by being led by revelation we receive from God, as we learn to become a spiritual house.  God is mercifully showing us that He can do this in us and then work it through us.  We are beginning to see the greatness of God as we grow deeper into Him through worship, prayer, and becoming zealous to manifest His presence into all of our being and life.  He will show the world what He is able to do through His people.  The life and spirit of Christ in us will affect our whole being.  We shall affect the very spiritual atmosphere around us as we learn to release the life of the Spirit of God from deep within us into all of our life.  The life of Christ within us is rising up, encouraging us to become more spiritual so that we can release the love of God into all the world.  Supernatural signs and wonders will follow the release of the Spirit of God from within His people.  God will show the world what He is able to do through His people, encouraging them to give their life to Him so He can work in them also.

Father, we rejoice that You know how to make us spiritual people, so that we live in our spirit and walk in the power and love of Your Holy Spirit.  Help us to receive and grow in Your love in us through Christ.  Amen.

A Thought from CMI—Shaking the Mind to Release the Spirit

June 10, 2008

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what it that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Romans 12:2

God loves us.  He loves the world.  He created us with the ability to receive into our spirit His very nature and character.  He gives us to ability to choose what we take into our spirit, through what we focus on, listen to, or allow to come into us.  Jesus was led by the Spirit of God.  As the Son of God, He had a pure and holy nature.  As a man, He lived in the weakness of sinful flesh.  He needed to have imparted into His being the continual empowerment and grace offered to humans by God through His Spirit.  The Bible says that Jesus was continually receiving revelation and empowerment from God throughout His life; He did what He saw His Father doing and spoke the words His Father gave Him to speak.  He grew in favor with God and man.

We have recently seen an exhibit highlighting the work and character of George Washington Carver, a renowned African-American scientist.    He was born into slavery, lost his parents, and was a sickly child.  He was led to know Jesus and made a commitment to serve Him.  He confessed he was called by God to use the power of God in His creation to help the poor of his race.

He was educated at levels few of his race were able to attain at that time.  Yet, his stated motto was that his education gave him facts, but he was solely dependent on his Creator for revelation of how to use these facts to better mankind.  He attributed his scientific discoveries and methodologies to revelation from his Creator.  When perplexed by problems or great needs, he would shut himself off in his laboratory and spend days with his Creator.  The problems of the poor African-American farmer were beyond being solved by human reasoning; they could only be addressed by revelation from our Creator.

The problems of our society concerning energy, race relations, sexual morality, violence, etc., are rapidly increasing.  Darkness is increasing.  BUT GOD HAS A PLAN.  Amidst the darkness and perplexities of these times, God is speaking into the hearts of many of His people.  He is encouraging us to “fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 42:10).  He is giving Divine revelation to His people, to be able to know His peace and His wisdom in every situation of our life.  He is showing us of our desperate need to walk by the leading of His Spirit of wisdom and revelation.  He is willing to show Himself mighty to those who humbly seek Him and His ways through the impartation of life from His Spirit.  We can be partakers of the Divine Nature of God, and live as Jesus did, totally dependant on the revelation and power of the Holy Spirit.

Father, we rejoice that You are with us and are showing us our desperate need to be filled with and to live in Your Holy Spirit.  Thank You for Your mercy in doing this; help us to listen and follow Your Spirit through Christ living in us and our being in Him.  Amen.
